“Cluttered brain—cluttered house—cluttered life”
I don’t know who this quote is from or if it’s even in the right order but it defines why I like to be organized. I have a lot of general ideas in this post and I plan to make future posts that go much more in depth on how I like to organize and keep my life in line. I first wanted to make a post on the foundation in which the method to madness grew from.
Plan plan plan
planning has always been VERY important in my life. I have had to have a planner since high school. I am very particular about my planner and I will make a whole post in itself on my planning tips and tricks. but to spare some of you from the boredom, just get a planner. there are so many different styles and types. find one that works best for you! Planning can help you beat proacrastination and prioritize your life in an efficient manner.
Sticky notes
These are also essential, especially when I was in college. I had a million things thrown in my direction every single day and a brain full of information I was to remember on top of it. we simply cannot always do it all. this is why I love sticky notes because I write down what I need to remember and stick it anywhere! If it's something you need not to forget you can stick it on your bathroom mirror or your front door. If it is an apointment you can stick it in your planner. If it's additional study tips stick it in your notebook.
I also love the "Notes" app on my phone. I tend not to check it so often so thats why I use sticky notes but a great way to keep track of life things or tips and tricks are on this app. I tend to make lists such as things I need to do and I really utilize the app for jotting down recommendations from people. Recommendations like restaurants, hikes, or even a good realtor…(yes i do have this in my phone right now).
Proactiveness
You do not always have to be on top of your game but I like to implement strategies that seem like I have it all together and still help me be proactive to help future Kaitlyn. I constantly am thanking past Kaitlyn for looking out for future Kaitlyn. Seems silly I know but it's just how I am…haha. You have to look out for your future self and I find since I will be getting something out of it for my future, I don't mind doing it in the moment. I would forget so much more if I did not complete things that were necessary in the moment. A lot of the time I fight through the “I don’t want to” or “I'll do it in ten minutes” feeling. I fight through this so I can get things done that can take up your day and keep you from your goals. Being proactive can help you plan for your next week or day and keep your priorities in check and so you are always ahead of what needs to get done.
As I have learned these tips and utilized them in a way that makes sense in my life I have become less forgetful. I used to really struggle with forgetfulness in college and I would always say “my brain is just too full”. Implementing strategic plans and habits into your life can really cut down the stress and overwhelming feeling we can get from life. These tools have really helped me decrease my stress and constant overwhelming feeling that I have something else to do or that I am forgetting something. Whether it's my tips or these brought inspiration to come up with your own tools I hope that this can help your brain become less full too.
